The weekend of July 13-14 2024, the sports world was buzzing as several major international tournaments crowned their champions. And when the sports world is buzzing, so is X.

The thrilling EURO 2024 Final between Spain and England showed the power of X. The second most watched football tournament (behind the World Cup) lived up to expectations on and off the pitch. Euros content racked up 2 billion impressions across the weekend.

The EUROs weren’t the only football being played this weekend as the Copa America finals between Argentina and Colombia also drove heavy conversation over the match that went to extra time, with nearly 400 million impressions.

#Wimbledon

Not to be outdone, the historic grounds of Wimbledon hosted the Men’s and Women’s finals. The weekend’s matches drove 437 million impressions and posts were up 16% YoY.

Looking ahead to #Paris2024 Olympics

The road to the Olympics continues to heat up. Conversation around the event has increased 112% in the past month. With 6 in 10 sports fans using X (20% more sports fans than other platforms), we can anticipate a historical level of engagement, viewership, and conversation during the Olympic Games. Athletes from around the globe, including many that participated in this weekend’s championship matches, will arrive in Paris, and the world will watch the events, emotions, and celebrations together live on X.
